JCB and British manufacturing has been honoured in Germany – a country recognised around the world as one of the most successful and innovative engineering nations.
JCB this week unveiled a new range of Fastrac tractors at Agritechnica, the world’s biggest agricultural fair, in Hanover. Their launch follows the biggest single investment in JCB’s tractor range since its launch in 1990.
Now the concept and innovation encompassed in the new revolutionary 7000 Series range of Fastracs – capable of road speeds of up to 70kph (43.5mph) - has earned the product the title of “Machine of the Year 2008” in the 150 to 250hp tractor class. JCB was chosen for the award by a group of seven leading German agricultural journalists.
Made by JCB in Cheadle, Staffordshire, the new Fastracs have full suspension and the industry’s largest operator cab complete with climate control – and the option of a fridge.
JCB Chief Operating Officer Matthew Taylor said: “Germany is recognised as one of the world leaders in engineering excellence and innovation. So for a British company to receive an award in Germany in the face of fierce competition from other international competitors, is truly a great achievement.”
